Offering in-person therapy video sessions from our offices in Boca Raton & Plantation
Many people have not participated in therapy in the past. The Lux Center makes it easy to schedule an appointment. If you are using insurance to pay for your sessions, we verify your benefits before your first appointment. When we know your benefits or if you are paying cash, we will make an appointment with you and send you consent forms.
All insurance companies are different, and most help pay for mental and behavioral health services. All services must be medically necessary, meaning that you are seeking services because your symptoms impact your daily function at home, in relationships, or at work.
The Lux Center is in network with many insurance companies. If we are in network with your insurance company, this means we have a contract with them, and are obligated to bill you at our contracted rate. If you prefer to pay cash, we'll ask you to sign a waiver that states that you understand your insurance company will not be billed for your sessions.
Yes, we accept many EAP authorizations. Consult your employer's EAP or your insurance company's EAP to learn more about their program and authorization process.
The Lux Center of Counseling and Education accepts many types of insurance. If we do not accept your insurance, we can produce an invoice, which can be submitted to your insurance company and may be applied to your out-of-network benefits. We recommend calling your insurance company to learn more about your out-of-network benefits.
All of the therapists at the Lux Center are master's level therapists. Each therapist has different credentials. See Our Therapist page to learn more about each of our therapists.
The Lux Center offers in-person and video sessions, depending on the needs of each client.
Each client at The Lux Center is unique, and each one has different treatment goals. We establish these goals during the initial session. We recommend our clients participate in treatment consistently. Clients are discharged when their treatment goals have been achieved or when they feel they are finished with treatment.
The Lux Center of Counseling and Education is a community mental health center. We are dedicated to providing evidence-based therapeutic services in person and online.
The therapists at The Lux Center make every effort to keep you informed of your appointments. When scheduling, each therapist creates a schedule based on your requests and their availability. Therapists also inform you of your next appointment date, and an automated reminder is sent to you 24 hours before the scheduled appointment.
We recognize that events change, and you may need to reschedule your appointment.
IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT, WE REQUIRE MORE THAN 24 HOURS NOTICE.
If you cancel it within 24 hours notice or "no show," The Lux Center of Counseling and Education will charge a $45 cancellation fee at the end of the business day. In addition, if you "no show" one time or you cancel two sessions within 24 hours of the appointment, we will not hold any future appointments for you, and you will need to reschedule at your convenience.
We understand things happen occasionally! On rare occasion, if there is what we determine to be an unavoidable emergency, you may discuss this with your therapist, and we may consider waiving the fee and continue with the agreed upon schedule. If you provide more than 24 hours notice, we are able to plan our schedules accordingly and offer the appointment time to other community members. Thank you!
The Lux Center of Counseling and Education was created by LeAnn DeHoff, PhD, LMHC, RPT. Dr. DeHoff was inspired by the definition of lux, which is the measurement of light on or through a surface. In therapy, counselors use many analogies. The use of lux is an example. Sometimes, the light within you shines bright and sometimes it needs help healing. The therapists at The Lux Center of Counseling and Education are here to help shine a light on your inner-experiences and support healing through evidence-based therapeutic methods.
The Lux Center of Counseling and Education has cleaning and office policy guidelines in alignment with the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, the Association for Play Therapy, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These efforts are posted on our website and in our consent forms.
